On Sunday, I didn't do much in the early afternoon, because I had an incident with my dryer. No, it didn't eat my underwear laundry, but I was a klutz and forgot to actually push the start lever. ^^;;; I was wondering why the dryer was so quiet, too...

In the late afternoon, I went on a bus journey to the University of Washington to meet noself for dinner and pass him some requested things. It was an educational experience getting there, and in fact very much similar to the Brisbane bus system (especially with zones and free transfers), so I didn't have too many problems getting there. The fun started on the way back, though, when the bus I got on apparently did not go where I thought it was going. The driver was nice enough to drop me off at a bus-stop from where I could hopefully take another bus, even though I should've known that she probably wouldn't be able to know what other buses stopped where. I think I've been spoiled by bus drivers in Singapore suggesting what buses to change to...

I left UW at around 8:26 pm, and got home around 10:45 pm. Most of that delay was due to the infrequent bus schedules on Sundays (one bus every hour?!), as well as my getting drenched at the bus stop where I got off (intersection of Montlake Blvd going east and SR-520 east-bound on-ramp, if anyone wants to go there :P). I was worried that I'd either get home really late, or be sick, but fortunately neither of those happened. It was pretty odd being the second-last person to get off the bus, though, and watching everyone else alight and the bus gradually become emptier. I'm glad I didn't take my bicycle that night

Today was the first day of employee orientation. I didn't actually do any work or meet my manager (or colleagues), but I'll get to meet them tomorrow afternoon. Instead, today (and what'll happen tomorrow morning) was about learning the corporate culture and various other things, and some explanation of the benefits, which really are quite impressive. ^^;

I had a quite enjoyable evening with [livejournal.com profile] itsacz doing grocery shopping at Safeway even though I forgot to take my shopping list and missed out buying bread, washing powder and some other things, which can wait followed by a surprisingly good dinner at a restaurant which he'd gone to before and at which he'd had a somewhat off-putting experience. I'd like to believe that it wasn't because both of us were together. :P

After uploading and resizing so many photos manually (especially recently), I decided to throw in the towel and got myself a Flickr account. My username there is nyankoframe not surprisingly. :P

So, without further ado, here are some of the pictures I took yesterday, which were the first to be uploaded. There are many others that I have want to upload, but I'll be doing them in stages once I get there. And it'll give me something to do, too?

I had a very enjoyable dinner with a friend at Swensen's in Holland Village, where I had a salmon and mushroom baked rice while my friend had a curry chicken baked rice. It was wonderful. :)

For dessert, we unanimously decided to order a baked waffle with ice-cream on top, because we can't resist we haven't had it in a long time... just because. :P That led to moments such as this:

and, finally, this:

It was a very enjoyable time and I was sad to part with my friend. I hope I'll be able to talk to her soon once I'm in Seattle, though. :)

This song was obtained from [livejournal.com profile] pengie via her meme here. :)

It's very touching (even though I haven't read the lyrics or a translation of them), but perhaps that is because of the melodies in the song and the way they're constructed. It is also probably because of the singer, who has a very strong voice and a wide range. :P

Next week looks like it will be very busy and physically draining at camp. At the same time, my relatives from Sri Lanka are here for a few days, and for my aunt and cousin, this is their first visit to Singapore in a long time (it's my cousin's first visit ever, and her first overseas flight/visit, while my aunt last came to Singapore about 20 years ago). Because of that, I may not be around online very often, but I will try to check e-mails before I leave for camp in the morning whenever I can.

There's also something that is troubling me very much, and I don't know whether I will be able to get it off my chest without hurting people, especially one person in particular who is a good friend but from whom I feel that I've become somewhat distant. I suppose I can only worry about that when or if that time comes instead of worrying myself so much about it now. But I hope that I will be able to talk to that friend of mine again soon without hurting her...

I will most probably be back (as in around most of the time) on Saturday. Have a good week, everyone! :)

about song lyrics...

I happen to particularly like this song out of all the songs by Shiina Ringo that I have (although this certainly isn't the only one). :) If anyone has this song and knows what the word I'm not sure about is, could you let me know please? ^^;

edit: Thanks to [livejournal.com profile] meganemagic for helping me out with the lyrics for mr. wonderful by taking the time to google for the original lyrics. ^_^ I didn't even know the song had been sung before! :P

So it's December 30th and I am officially "unemployed" again, as my internship at Citibank ended today.

Overall, it was a very satisfying 22 days working there. While the workload was rather heavy, and the time pressures/deadlines insane at times, I felt that it was pretty representative of the working world in general. I had a good time there in general (and my colleagues were quite friendly and warm), and I might consider working there again in the future.

In other news, I also found out tonight that I may be playing much sooner than I thought, and the same piece as last October (Ojos Criollos).

Happy New Year to everyone who reads this!

It seems the Animesuki forums were down for some time as they were hacked and then redirected to the Maddox forums. They're back now, though.

However, I'm glad that the person whom I sent a private message to on the forums received it and sent a reply (which I received two minutes after I left for work, it seems). :)

In other news, I think I might collapse tomorrow, from working until 6:30 pm (or 6:25 if I'm lucky), then rushing down to campus to be there in time for auditions. I hope nothing goes wrong, because I haven't been able to practice a lot. I'll probably write more about it at a later time.

I know very little about some of the people on my friends list. Some people I know relatively well. I read your journal, or we have something else in common and we chat occasionally. Some of you I hardly know at all. Perhaps you lurk, for whatever reason. But you friended me and, heck, that's downright exciting to me!

But here's a thought: why not take this opportunity to tell me a little something about yourself. Even if I know you really well - take this opportunity to tell me something. Just so the next time I see your name I can say: "Ah, there's so and so...she likes to bite her toenails while riding public transportation."

I'd love it if every single person who friended me would do this. Then post this in your own journal.

(And if you've newly friended me, why not introduce yourself?)
