unless you're talking about prosecco (for which vintage means very little) if the quality and taste of a wine varies from one bottle to the next there is something very wrong with the vineyard or the negociant...

my mistake-- wine *can* taste different bottle to bottle, because they develop a little differently once they are bottled.
