In the latest speak well, be understood, Chewie mentions something about long words being unnecessary in certain contexts.
One need look no further than some phrases from the programme booklet:
"... written in a light and ingratiating style"
" the first of which, portray the pulchritude of Lan Hua Hua and the deep affection between she and her lover"
To be fair though, programme booklets usually don't get as much proofing as the performers do. =)
