This week has been really busy and hectic in terms of work. I've been working pretty much almost every day until 9 pm or later (I got home tonight about an hour ago), dealing with test automation (fixing automation, and writing new automation), investigating bugs and test failures, building source code (and dealing with the failures) and learning more about new technology areas as part of my work. It's really a lot of work and every day I come home just about ready to flop into bed.

However, I got some unexpected surprises this week, namely My first Ship-It award.

It was really unexpected, for me at least, since I believed that these awards were only given to people at Microsoft who had shipped an actual product; the only project (until recently) I had been working on since I joined Microsoft was Windows Vista SP1, which wasn't an actual product in itself, or so I thought.

Anyway, to cut a long story short, I'm really thrilled and excited about getting this award and I just had to beg my colleague, who happened to bring his camera to work today, to take a picture of the award so I could post it. For obvious reasons, this award is staying in my office and will not be coming home in the near future. ;-)

I would like to thank several people for this award. First and foremost, This Ship-It award was brought to you by the genus Felidae.

Additionally I'd like to thank my manager for encouraging and subtly pushing me to stretch my boundaries by giving me more responsibilities and challenges than I had ever dreamed of as well as recognizing my outside the box thinking when analyzing problems and dedication to solving and root-causing them, my colleagues and people I exchanged conversations with (email, phone, IM or in the hallways), and my friends both within and outside Microsoft who helped me get through times when I felt overwhelmed by it all. There are way too many people to thank here, but I want to specially mention [livejournal.com profile] itsacz for helping me get settled down in Microsoft (and its culture!) and for helping me with issues whenever I asked him to. Thanks, [livejournal.com profile] itsacz! :D *hugs*

*gets dragged off stage*

Anyway, I don't intend on spending too much time talking about the award, since there's always more work to be done on the horizon. But for now, I leave you with Office Space.

It is, actually, and that's why I was so excited about it to the point of getting my colleague to take pictures of it. ^_^
