Posting from work, which I've been trying not to do, but now that my laptop's not turning on, I don't have a choice, so... ^^;;;;

I think that something may have burnt out; the Acer end-user person specialist in the US suggested that it might have been a voltage issue, but I checked that before leaving (and was told it was okay), and in any case, it would have died sooner then...

What happened when I woke up on Saturday was that the CPU fan was on really loudly, and the lights on the laptop itself were on, but the lights on the USB hub attached were off, and I couldn't move the mouse or get it to wake up, or even turn off the power..

Finally I took out the battery to get it to turn off, but now after that it won't turn on at all. I was told it'd take at least 7-10 business days if shipped to the US (assuming that they even have the parts to service it), and if to Singapore, it'd probably take at least a month... But this is a really strong reason for me to get a desktop now.

I have to call Acer Singapore at or after 6:30 pm today, and I hope I won't forget... If I do, please call/visit me and yell at me

I'm also resigned to losing everything/most things yet again. *shrug* Hopefully that won't be the case, though.

I bought Need for Speed: Carbon and Test Drive Unlimited (both for Xbox 360) yesterday at Circuit City, while (fruitlessly) looking for desktops, nearly all of which weren't what I was looking for... They're both great games, and Test Drive Unlimited is really much harder than it looks, especially for the challenges like driving someone to a destination on time safely (i.e. without hitting anything or going off the road), and the rewards like clothing coupons and cash. And I'm playing it as a female character, so... ^^;;;

But I had a very delicious and quite filling spicy pork bulgogi for lunch yesterday at Crossroads mall. ^_^ It was a bit expensive ($6.83 after tax), but so worth it. *_* *still remembers it fondly* I am so tempted to have that again for lunch today...

This morning, I watched "Dark Water", a 2001 Japanese film (with English subtitles/dub track available) that's 100 minutes long by the director of "Ringu" and "Ringu 2". It's (very briefly) about a divorced woman who's raising her 6 year-old daughter, and she's having a really hard time, and water starts dripping from her ceiling onto everything. There's a lot of suspense in the movie, but to me, it was also really interesting looking at how people cope with depression. ^^;; And the ending reminded me a lot of Silent Hill for some reason, although it was slightly different...

It's been licensed for R1 by ADV, so it shouldn't be too hard to find. I recommend watching it, though maybe not alone. ^^;;;

If I don't get a desktop, I'll be "offline" for at least 2 weeks. I can check email from work, but in terms of LJ comments/posts, I'm trying not to get into that habit...

That's not all that expensive at all, for non-homemade food. Assuming it was filling, anyway.

It was filling. I guess, like [livejournal.com profile] wao said in her comment, it's expensive in S$ terms but not really in US$ terms. :P

Definitely not that expensive ^^;;;

I consider anything under $10 for lunch "cheap" ^^;;

Then again (usually) the more expensive it is, the more variety of dishes and sides you get, so... ^^;;;

It might be cheap, but I still probably wouldn't want to eat it every day even though I'm very tempted to. ^^;;

It's expensive in Sing$ but that's pretty damn cheap for the US isn't it? o_o Since you said it was filling. I guess it's my turn to make you jealous by saying that R akka made us this *fantastic* vegetarian lasagna with mushrooms and loads of lovely creamy cheese. And italian herbs. And the best italian sauce thing. Pity I didn't take a pic of it.

Anyway, cul8r lolz. Live without Skype for 2 weeks! *cackles evilly in an evil-sister-manner*

not sure if i told you, but sometimes horror movies have to do with who you watch them with...

was dragged to watch dark waters, fully expecting to be scared out of my wits. which did not happen, because the cinema had its own early warning system--adolescent girls who would scream *before* anything scary happened...

I watched Dark Water while in Japan on TV so I barely understood it. lol Tried to watch the American version, but I never get to finish it because I have to do something.

You can always watch it with subtitles now, you know. ^_^

And I heard the Hollywood remake wasn't as good as the original...
