Anyway, found out some interesting stuff about ragtimes in general.
History of Ragtime.
Additionally, what I found out was that ragtimes were originally used as background music in brothels (yes, really) while clients chose their women. Which is why he (the tutor) was suggesting that "if you want to play it in the strict Joplin style, it wouldn't be played at a concert".
Can you say oops? But both of us think with some changes, it can pass.
In other news: My eyes are somewhat painful now...
