Walking in the sunrise and sunset
Aug. 17th, 2006 10:26 pmIt's an interesting experience to walk outside just before the sun rises. I marvel at how the pitch-black sky gradually lightens, and the first blush of the sun peeks out from behind the horizon. And it's so quiet walking through an HDB estate with almost no one outside, and none of the bustle of people rushing about in their lives. I find it calming in a way, although perhaps not so much when I'm rushing to get to camp early. ^^; But my point is that it's a good way to observe the environment around you and appreciate the things you never noticed before.
Walking in the sunset is just as interesting because of the afterglow of the setting sun that lights up the sky and gradually fades to the inky blackness of the night. Unlike in the morning, people are rushing about to get back home from school, work or just being outside and the overall effect is one of a controlled frenzy of people - much like a swarm of ants.
It's interesting being an observer of what people do and how people's lives are shaped to some extent by what happens to them, but also by what they do either consciously or unconsciously.
In other unrelated news, this exchange made me giggle quite a lot. :P

I like this piece because its melody reminds me of Skip to My Lou in both major and minor variations, although the piece itself was fashioned around a Creole melody (Lolotte pov'piti Lolette). This performance is a little bit slow, though. :P
By the way, this will most likely be my last entry for a while. Certain things happened very recently, and I realized that I needed some time to myself alone. I'm not very sure when I will be back, but roughly speaking right now, I think I might be back in about a month or so. You can send me an email though if you'd like to, although I can't promise that I will read it or reply to it immediately.
I hope all of you will take care and have a good time. :)
