I'm not an Iron Chef...

But I like to think that I can cook decently for two. :P (The title of this post came about because [livejournal.com profile] itsacz was watching Iron Chef America on the Food Network while I was cooking. ^^;;; )

Corn oil
1 red chili, 2 cloves of garlic and two pieces of ginger (pounded into a paste)
Minced/ground pork/chicken/tofu/mock chicken/etc.
Packet of "wet" noodles
Bean sprouts
2 eggs (depending on number of people)
Dark soy sauce
Spring onions (for garnishing)

  1. Heat up wok with oil and add paste when oil is warm/starting to get hot.

  2. Add meat/"meat" and stir.

  3. Add noodles.

  4. Mix noodles and meat well.

  5. Wash out bowl/mortar used to pound paste with water and add water to soften noodles.

  6. Add bean sprouts (after being washed and de-tailed).

  7. Add eggs.

  8. Add soy sauce.

  9. Add spring onions (chopped finely).

  10. Serve

Changes from the recipe:
- There weren't any red chillies at least not that I could find, so I used mild green chili instead. [livejournal.com profile] itsacz commented that I could have used the chili padi or Thai chili, or even the extra-hot orange chili instead, because it was somewhat mild for him.. ^^;;;
- I didn't buy any spring onions because I couldn't be bothered to cut them, and I had a bag of salad leaves (with broccoli and carrot, among other things) in the fridge, so I used that instead.
- I didn't have dark soy sauce, so I used light soy sauce instead
- There weren't any wet noodles of the type that we usually use in Singapore, so I used yakisoba noodles instead. It was a somewhat large box and I used almost all of it ^^;;;;
- I didn't use any salt or sugar ^^;;;

I had fun playing Perfect Dark Zero and finishing Gears of War with Cz, and I hope I can finish PDZ soon. :) I also want to get my own Xbox360 too so I can play games, as well as a PS2... ^^;;;

I'm tired now, so I'll post the photographs tomorrow morning (and edit this post).

Who the hell puts sugar with mee goreng, yuck...

...no wait, there's probably people who do that.

And mee goreng without spiciness si teh fial, but I guess it couldn't be helped.

Couldn't you have taken a picture of it though?!!11/1

And have you still not seen any caets in your neighbourhood... :(

The sugar was in reference to this (http://nyankoframe.livejournal.com/244476.html?thread=488956#t488956) comment.

It actually was still spicy, just not as much as our normal one. I do have pictures and I'm going to upload them now.

And I haven't seen any caets. :(

"meat"? For vegetarian?

What photographs? ^^;;

[identity profile] nyankoframe.livejournal.com 2007-02-25 04:24 pm (UTC)(link)
Yup, mock meat.

The headless ones, of course

For a while, I thought this was a recipe for kuey teow. <3

Damn, I'm hungry.

[identity profile] nyankoframe.livejournal.com 2007-02-26 01:14 am (UTC)(link)
I'm not even sure where to begin to make kuey teow ^^;;;; Even if I did make it, I wouldn't add the cockles either ^^;;;

I'm always replacing stuff from recipes too because I never have the exact ingredients. :p

[identity profile] nyankoframe.livejournal.com 2007-02-26 01:15 am (UTC)(link)
Now I'm curious, what have you tried cooking? ^^;;

[identity profile] nakaemi.livejournal.com 2007-02-27 05:20 pm (UTC)(link)
Many many things, plus sometimes I've used books. :) I cannot really specify everything I've cooked, you know... :p

[identity profile] nyankoframe.livejournal.com 2007-02-27 05:33 pm (UTC)(link)
So, does that mean when I come you'll cook something interesting? :P *looking forward to it*

[identity profile] nakaemi.livejournal.com 2007-02-28 01:13 pm (UTC)(link)
Well... Maybe... Who knows? I can always pull something out. ^_^

[identity profile] haplo3k.livejournal.com 2007-02-27 05:36 am (UTC)(link)
Oooh this post makes me hungry. <3

[identity profile] nyankoframe.livejournal.com 2007-02-27 05:32 pm (UTC)(link)
Is that why you're licking the plate? :P

[identity profile] haplo3k.livejournal.com 2007-03-01 02:22 pm (UTC)(link)
Why else? :D
