CDs and Emma 2nd season!!!
I bought a lot of CDs last Saturday and on Thursday. Here's a listing (including CDs that I have given/will give as presents):
Saturday:
- The Prague Piano Duo performing 4 of George Gershwin's works arranged for two pianos by himself (Rhapsody in Blue, Concerto in F, "I Got Rhythm" Theme with 5 Variations and An American in Paris)
- "Jacques Loussier Trio Plays Debussy" by the Jacques Loussier Trio. This trio specializes in jazz re-interpretations of classical composers and are most famous for their improvisations on Bach, though they have also interpreted other composers like Chopin and Satie.
- Diana Krall's "From This Moment On"
- An UVERworld album (something I can't remember the name of right now)
- "Hachimitsu" by Spitz
- "Adult" by Tokyo Jihen
Thursday:
- Two of Silje Nergaard's albums, Port of Call (2000) and The Essential (2005)
- A recording of "Adiós Nonino" and other works featuring Astor Piazzolla performing on the bandoneon together with an orchestra
- Nelly Furtado's (latest?) album, "Loose"
- Hirai Ken's "SENTIMENTALovers" album
- "A Girl Meets Bossa Nova" (2 copies) and "A Girl Meets Bossa Nova 2" by Olivia. Interestingly enough, she's born in Singapore and her albums are marketed by a Singapore company, in addition to her second album being recorded in Singapore. She also sang before one of the Singapore-Japan World Cup qualifying matches (I don't remember which one though). She's lived in Japan since 2003 and is 19 years old, and also sings/features in the anime series NANA.
- The Spirited Away OST by Joe Hisashi
- "The Ghibli Classics" performed on cello
- LOVE PSYCHEDELICO'S live concert album, LIVE PSYCHEDELICO, including Mika Arisaka of Infinite Ryvius, Juuni Kokki and "Life Goes On" (from Gundam Seed Destiny) fame
- Vladimir Ashkenazy, Andre Previn and the London Symphony Orchestra performing Rachmaninov, including the Piano Concertos no. 2 and 3 as well as 5 Preludes, 3 Etudes-Tableaux and the famous Rhapsody on a Theme of Paganini
- The Vienna Boys' Choir singing Christmas carols and two CDs of classical vocal works
- "Music of the World" from Argentina featuring Astor Piazzolla and other Argentinian composers
- "Music of the World" from America featuring various genres of music, including jazz, classical and big band
- "Collected Chamber Works of Francis Poulenc, vol. 3" on the Naxos Classical label
- "The Very Best of Nat King Cole"
- "Antonio Carlos Jobim: The Warner Bros. Years"
In other news...
There's a new season of Victorian Romance Emma airing next Spring (if you want to download the first season, torrents are available here)! And MAX FACTORY is also offering this Victorian Emma figurine for sale in January 2007. At 6,800 yen (US$57.16 / S$88.07), it's not cheap, though...
